Meet young people from all over our fairytale world in Denmark

Learn more about Denmark’s most famous author, Hans Christian Andersen at our international summer camp. Join us for five weeks in the author’s universe – while meeting young people from all over the world, improving your language skills and going to folk high school.

From July 6 and the five weeks ahead, Vrå Folk High School holds an international summer camp for young people between 18 and 25 years old. The focus is on our world famous author.

We will work with:

  • Dramaturgy
  • Performing Arts
  • Performance
  • Textual interpretation
  • Recitation
  • Music and song
  • The fairy tale, “The Nightingale”

In addition, we will make summer camp creative projects where we will build a pavilion, inspired by H.C. Andersen’s fairy tale “The Nightingale”, and we will of course visit the author’s birthplace of Odense, where it all began on April 2, 1805.

We will find out what it was that drove the man behind the many famous fairy tales – and we will put focus on the story of the nightingale.

We will understand why the author is still relevant today.

Teaching at International H.C. Andersen Summer Camp will be characterized by a mix of workshops and language teaching.

We will of course read H.C. Andersen’s texts, but we will also interpret them creatively in the folk high school workshops.

In addition, there will be lectures, excursions to the beach and plenty of coziness in the big folk high school garden. You will also have ample opportunity to try out the school’s open workshops – and we are open to your ideas and input.

If you want to participate in one of Vrå Folk High School’s many summer courses, it is important to sign up – and preferably before too long. Some of our courses are sold out quickly, so it’s first come first serve.

Many of our courses only accommodate 12 participants – sometimes more. The small teams ensure that you get more out of the teaching – while at the same time you get to know the other students on the team.

If the course you want is sold out, we would like you to sign up on the waiting list. You can be lucky that someone will cancel – and we will of course contact you. We are looking forward to meeting you – and getting to know you better. Use the registration form below.
